Allantoin (from comfrey)


Allantoin helps to soften and protect while actively soothing skin. It also stimulates cell regeneration promoting healthy skin. It comes from an extract from the root of the comfrey plant and is a soothing, non-irritating ingredient that has the ability to help heal the skin and stimulate the growth of healthy tissue.

Aqua (water)


Purified water, pure and simple, which is very important for hydration.

 

Aloe vera (aloe barbadensis)


The health benefits of aloe vera seem endless. From clearing trouble skin to boosting your immune system to soothing menopausal flushes, Aloe Vera is a great addition to anyone’s daily health and beauty routine. Aloe Vera is packed full of amino acids, vitamins and minerals. With anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and anti-fungal properties, it is also a particularly potent skincare essential.

Alpine Rose stem cell


Sourced from this wonderful plant, PhytoCellTec™ Alp Rose is a resistance-charged stem cell that protects skin against dehydration and damaging free radicals. 

Ascorbyl palmitate


A non-acidic molecule made from ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) and palmitic acid (fatty acid). A preservative with antioxidant properties blend. It's an effective collagen builder and free-radical scavenging ingredient essential to healthy skin.

 

Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate


A derivative of vitamin C that can be used at higher concentrations than Vitamin C without drawbacks, this mild skin treatment helps to block pigment production and increase cell turnover – leading to brilliantly brightening benefits. Boosting radiance and reducing signs of ageing, this oil-format vitamin C formula is delivered in combination with vitamin F, known for its essential skin-plumping fatty acids.

Aspen Bark extract (populus tremoloides)


The main use of aspen bark extract in skin are is as a natural preservative. An excellent alternative to parabens, it protects my products from contamination. It's natural salicin content also soothes the skin, while its conditioning properties help make skin smooth and soft to the touch. No chemical preservatives can claim they are actually beneficial to the skin as well extending its shelf life naturally!

 

Avocado (persea gratissima)


The ultimate ‘good’ fat, rich in rich in vitamins, essential fatty acids and phytosterols. Softening, nourishing and regenerative, avocado oil is packed with anti-ageing ingredients.

Banana flower extract (musa scipientum)


These flowers are pretty, but you should not dismiss them as merely decorative elements. They have a host of health benefits too! The extracts of methanol present in banana flower possess antioxidant properties. These flowers perfectly handle free radicals that cause damages to the skin. Banana Flower Oil Extract is effective against skin alterations and ageing process, due to its elevated contents of Vitamin E, which activates microcirculation of skin. It is a cell antioxidant, which delays cell ageing, improves elasticity of the skin, and helps with the appearance of wrinkles. In addition, Vitamin E acts as a moisturising agent, anti-inflammatory, and protection against UV damage.

 

Beeswax (cera alba)


A fantastic ingredient that also helps to support the bee population. In skincare, Beeswax helps create a thin, protective layer over skin to help prevent loss of moisture and help protect it from environmental assaults. Plus, unlike petroleum-derived waxes like paraffin, when formulated correctly, it won’t clog pores. 

Benzyl alcohol


Naturally occurring fragrance in essential oils. This fragrance material also has antiseptic and antibacterial properties which means it can be used as a preservative.

Biosaccharide gum-1


Made by fermenting plants. A moisturising and skin soothing ingredient, it works by binding water to the epidermis, and creating a moisture-binding film on the skin that gives the skin a soft, smooth feeling. In addition to providing long lasting hydration, it also functions as an anti-irritant.

 

Benzyl benzoate


Naturally occurring fragrance in Jasmine essential oil.

Borage seed oil (borag officinalis)


Borage is a wildflower commonly called the starflower. It is a natural oil that not only restores moisture and smoothness to dry and damaged skin but can also provide relief to people who suffer from chronic skin disorders such as eczema and atopic dermatitis.

Blackcurrant seed oil (ribes nigrum seed oil)


High in antioxidants and gamma-linolenic acid making it a highly effective anti-inflammatory agent, is vitamin rich and also contains steriodonic acid, also plus amounts of omegas 3 and 6. This oil is said to increase elasticity in the skin, and can be used to protect and nourish skin tissues preventing chronic skin conditions, such as dermatitis and eczema. It can also be used to slow premature ageing.How to avoid them

 

Calendula (calendula officinalis)


Also known as English Marigold. It has been used to heal injuries, relieve dry chapped skin, and reduce inflammation. People in ancient Rome also used it as a fever reducer. In modern day skincare the oil extracted from the flower petal is thought to have detoxifying properties and act as an antiseptic. Calendula treats a variety of skin conditions such as acne, eczema, and even sunburns. Even the most sensitive skin can benefit from its healing properties as it comforts and calms dry irritated skin.

Camelina seed oil (camelina sativa)


Very high in omega 3 essential fatty acids, feeding skin with nourishment. It improves the skin’s elasticity and gives a glossy luminescence. 

Carrot seed oil (daucus carrots sativa)


Rich in Vitamins A, B, C and E as well as beta-carotene, this amazing oil improves circulation, repairs, rejuvenates, nourishes, tones and helps protect against free radical damage. Vitamin A (retinol) helps diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. 

 

Caprylic Triglyceride


Derived from coconuts, Caprylic triglyceride creates a barrier on the skin's surface, decreasing the amount of moisture lost through the skin, functioning not only to prevent dryness in skin, but also as a skin conditioning agent.  they offer a noticeable silkiness in products, they exhibit excellent anti-oxidant properties to extend the natural shelf life, they offer skin nurturing benefits due to the skin loving nature of the specific fatty acid esters.

Cetyl alcohol

Derived from plants, it works as an emollient, emulsifier, thickener.

Cherry oil (prunus avium)


Black Cherry Seed Oil keeps skin nourished and hydrated, whilst helping to defend skin from UV stress, and is especially beneficial for acne-prone or inflamed skin. The vitamins and nutrients contained within the fruit are known to play an important role in collagen synthesis and skin healing processes. The oil is abundant in oleic acid and linoleic acid, fatty acids that help restore and replenish the skin.

Citral


A fragrant natural liquid occurring in citrus essential oils.

 

Chia (salvia hispanica)


Chia is one of the richest botanical sources of Omega 3 fatty acids found in nature and chia seed oil is loaded with unusually high levels of phyto-nutrients and anti-oxidants. Chia is a powerful source of alpha lipoic acid: a powerful antioxidant that helps to minimize fine lines, wrinkles and enlarged pores, while encouraging healthy cellular function and increasing radiance. Also, chia seed oil is clinically proven to significantly increase skin hydration, reduce trans-epidermal water loss and increase skin barrier function in even the driest skin.

Citronellol

A component of essential oil, fragrance found in Geranium and Rose.

Clary sage essential oil (salvia sclarea leaf oil)


A herbaceous, slightly sweet and warming aroma, renowned for calming the nerves and depression, this uplifting aroma has a toning effect as it boosts the circulation. 

CoQ10


An antioxidant-rich enzyme found naturally in the body, but that decreases over time. CoQ10 helps keep your skin in optimal health, protecting against damage and providing powerful antioxidants.

 

Coconut kernel oil (cocos nucifera)


Besides being a highly nutritious and delicious cooking oil, coconut oil contains properties that feed and moisturise the skin. The scientific community is finally catching up with what many have known for ages, coconut oil is truly good for you, both inside and outside.

C12-16 alcohols (ECOCERT approved)

Fatty acids derived from coconut oil that help the skin to better absorb the other ingredients.

C1 77891 (titanium dioxide)


Very high in omega 3 essential fatty acids, feeding skin with nourishment. It improves elasticity and adds luminescence. 

Crambe seed oil (crambe abyssinica)


The wonderful quality of this oil is the high quantity of Erucic Acid. Erucic Acid is a monosaturated omega-9 fatty acid which is high in the Brassica family. Omega-9 fatty acid helps to give a glossy shine to hair just like silicone would, so therefore also gives shine and gloss to dull and lifeless skin without making it greasy. In using this oil, you help your skin to improve its barrier function, therefore preventing your skin from drying out too quickly. It also has a highly biodegradable profile, and as a result this oil has been used as a natural substitute for synthetic mineral oils. It's able to quickly penetrate the outer layers of the skin, deeply nourishing the skin, protecting it from dehydration. It's a perfect alternative as a natural replacement to mineral oils and silicones.

 

C1 77120 (barium sulphate)


This naturally occurring mineral is used to illuminate and brighten skin.

Echium seed (purple vipors burgloss)


A gift for dry, eczema-prone skin, and an excellent wrinkle smoother. It’s the most potent plant source of Gamma Linolenic Acid and Stearidonic Acid and powerful forms of Omegas 3 and 6 (the building blocks of powerful cell membranes and a great source of protection against oxidative damage). Because of these omegas, vegetarians take echium seed supplements to replace fish. 

Evening primrose seed oil (oenothera biennis)


Evening primrose soothes dryness and nourishes skin with important fatty acids that can reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Evening primrose is a good source of linoleic acid, which is one of the essential fatty acids we need for healthy looking skin. Good fats promote protection and help your skin look firm and tight. Evening primrose can help calm the skin.

 

Eugenol


Eugenol is a naturally occurring fragrance which occurs in fruits and spices

Farnesol


Farnesol is a natural substance contained in some essential oils such as rose, orange blossom, Farnesol is reputed to smooth wrinkles and increase skin's elasticity. It is also thought to reduce skin ageing by promoting regeneration of cells and activation of the synthesis of molecules, such as collagen, that are required for healthy skin.How to avoid them

 

Fermented wheat (alcohol)


The alcohol I use is obtained by fermenting wheat. It helps eliminate the need for synthetic harmful preservatives. It tones and firms without drying out the skin as it is used in extremely small quantities

Geraniol


A naturally occurring fragrance found in roses, lavender and geranium.

 

Geranium bourbon essential oil


Balancing and uplifting, this sweet yet citrusy oil tones the skin whilst its reviving effect helps to lessen the look of fine lines and wrinkles.

Ginger essential oil


Ginger has a warm, almost spicy oriental aroma. Known for easing digestion as it’s calming and soothing as well as relieving nausea that can accompany pregnancy and travel sickness.

 

Gluconolactone


A natural preservative, Gluconolactone is a lactone derivative of glucose. It also makes skin look younger and healthier and, due to its ability to banish free radicals and protect the skin from environmental toxins, it can also reverse the effects of photo ageing. This means that this ingredient can improve the texture of the skin, reduce sun damage, and increase skin elasticity and firmness.

Glycerin


Derived from vegetables, it attracts moisture onto your skin which is why it is considered a humectant. Glycerin is an emollient, making skin not only moist, but soft and supple to the touch and can help prevent or combat dry skin.

 

Glyceryl caprylate


Produced using only plant materials. Glyceryl monoesters are versatile antimicrobial additives and is used as part of our preservation system, it also has properties that improve and maintaining the moisture and balance environment of the skin. 

Grapefruit peel oil (citrus grandus)


Grapefruit essential oil keeps the skin clean and gives a refreshing feeling. It has an energising stimulating effect on the emotions, uplifting the spirit. It has a slight astringent effect making it ideal for oily skins.

 

Green mandarin essential oil


Green Mandarin essential oil has a tangy citrus aroma with fresh, sweet, green notes. It is a gentle, uplifting, cheering and soothing oil. It nourishes and nurtures the skin whilst regenerating skin cells.

Green tea leaf extract (camelia sinensis)


Its Polyphenols have antioxidant benefits two times more potent than Vitamin C and E, thus helping to repair and protect from future signs of ageing. It’s also known to be skin firming (due to its tannins content), anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory.

 

Hydrogenated ethylhexyl olivate


An olive oil derivative, known for its excellent moisturizing and rejuvenating properties. It leaves a unique soft powdery feeling and creates a lasting satin effect on the skin without the use of silicones.

 

Isomalt


A polysaccharide responsible for the skin’s natural ability to hydrate and retain water. They are also critical for skin repair and skin renewal. Very important for protecting the skin’s barrier function.

Isoamyl cocoate


Made from renewable natural sources such as sugar and coconut. A great natural alternative to silicone, it gives creams, oils and butters a silky, elegant feel, and makes the, easier to apply. It dramatically improves the textures of creams and butters that have been made with high amounts of vegetable oils, butters and waxes by making them feel lighter, less greasy and more elegant to the touch.

 

Isoamyl laurate


A skin-conditioning emollient, isoamyl laurate is similar to isoamyl cocoate in that it is also naturally derived from sugar beets or coconuts. It also serves as a replacement for silicone and gives a silky, creamy texture to lotions and creams.

Jasmine essential oil


An intoxicating, sweet floral fragrance. Soothes, tones and improves skin’s elasticity.

 

Jojoba seed oil (simmondsia chinensis)


Jojoba Oil is referred to as an “oil” but it is, in fact, a liquid wax. And that makes all the difference. Unlike other skincare oils, the wax structure of jojoba oil is very similar to the natural oils of our skin. Which means it not only moisturizes, but absorbs faster than other oils. Jojoba is suitable for all skin types. And its benefits don’t end there—Jojoba Oil is full of nutrients and antioxidants, and also helps tame inflammation, reduce fine lines, control acne breakouts, soothe sunburn, and more.

Korean ginseng root extract (panax ginseng)


Rich in phytonutrients, Korean Ginseng has incredible rejuvenating properties, it: stimulates the skin’s metabolism; rids the build up of pollutants and toxins; eliminates dead cell skin cells to reveal healthy new skin; and increases collagen production, which helps tone, firm and plump the skin from within to reveal a fresh, healthy and energised look.

 

Lactobacillus ferment


A microbiome that encourages healthy skin. Normally, your skin cannot easily absorb the actives in natural ingredients. This is because the molecular size of the actives is too large. But through fermentation, microorganisms break down the molecules into smaller sizes, so your skin can easily absorb the skin-benefitting ingredients. Fermentation also reduces the chances of skin irritation.

 

Lactic acid


Lactic acid is an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA). AHAs are acids derived from sour milk, and when applied topically and regularly to your skin help reduce the appearance of ageing , and they can be an especially good remedy against fine lines, wrinkles and other signs of premature ageing from sun damage.

Lavender essential oil


A calming, relaxing fragrance which can promote restful sleep. Lavender soothes the skin, softens, rejuvenates and conditions and is mildly antiseptic and anti-inflammatory helping to heal.

 

Lecithin


Lecithin is derived from soya beans. An emollient, which is a softening and soothing agent. Its powerful moisturizing properties help to keep the skin hydrated, making it an excellent for mature, dry, or overworked stressed skin. It also has the unique ability to deeply penetrate the skin, and carry substances directly to the cells and the bloodstream. Used to emulsify and stabilise our formulations. also, is used in the food industry.

Levulinic acid


A corn extract that helps to prevent microbial build-up in skincare. It’s added to creams, lotions, and other beauty products to prevent them from going ‘off’. It also helps to condition and tone the skin, which is why it’s such a popular ingredient.

 

Limonene


Limonene, an oil nutrient called a terpene, is an amazing natural compound found in lemon and orange peels. It has potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties

Linalool


Linalool is a naturally occurring terpene found in many flowers and spices including lavender and coriander. It gives off a complex yet delicate floral aroma, and while its effects are myriad, it is in particular one of the substances used most widely to reduce stress

 

Maltodextrin (from oats)


Increases anti-aging properties of other ingredients when used in combination with them. Maltodextrin is a polysaccharide and carbohydrate derived from oats and helps bind the ingredients together.

Mandarin essential oil


Helpful in reducing acne, it also brightens the skin, alleviates insomnia, reduces oily skin, diminishes the appearance of scars and age spots.

 

May Chang essential oil


A mild astringent which helps balance oily and combination skin types, with the added benefit of a refreshing and uplifting scent.

Mica


Mica is a natural mineral used in cosmetics for its shimmering appearance. It reflects light and creates the illusion of a smoother, softer and more radiant skin tone

 

MSM


Its full name ‘MethylSulfonylMethane’ may sound like a chemical, but it’s actually a naturally occurring sulfur found in all plants. Also known as the ‘beauty mineral’ due to its ability to enhance collagen and restore the foundation for healthy skin, and can help to keep the skin smooth and youthful, and hair glossy and lustrous. An added bonus? It improves absorption of other active ingredients, making them more available to skin tissues.

Oat beta glucans


A little-known but highly effective antioxidant, oat beta glucans protect skin against everyday environmental aggressors, locking in moisture, soothing and healing, and have the ability to penetrate to the deeper layers of the skin to plump out wrinkles.

 

Olive oil


Offers a silky soft and smooth feeling on the skin. Olive oil’s nourishing, softening and protecting properties are well-known but it is also an anti-inflammatory and so very valuable to use in oil blends that treat skin irritations, damaged skin, and itchiness.

Palmitic acid


Derived from coconuts, helps to keep skin smooth, it is an emollient which moisturises the skin.

 

Panthenol (pro vitamin B5)


Panthenol promotes wound healing, helps restore damaged skin, reduces itching and inflammation, improves skin hydration, reduces trans-epidermal water loss-

PVP


Polyvinylpyrrolidone is a polymer that has water-binding properties and gives skin a firmer appearance. In addition, it helps keep creams from separating into their liquid and oil components.

 

Parfum (natural organic rose)


A mix of natural essential oil blends to produce this Rose Parfum.

Photo Vie Defence

Phytic acid


Phytic acid is a hexaphosphoric acid ester of inositol, also known as phytate, and a natural plant antioxidant found primarily in bran, cereal seeds, and fruit seeds. Most often used as a skin lighting agent in the skin care industry, phytic acid basically works by blocking the entrance of iron and copper in the formation of melanin. For years phytic acid has been used as an antioxidant in the food industry.

Polyglyceryl-3 methylglucose distearate


An effective emulsifier (helps blend water and oil together) derived from vegetable source, exceptionally gentle on the skin and mild, which makes it ideal for sensitive skin types. Research shows they can help enhance the absorption of other skincare ingredients too.

 

Pomegranate seed oil


A super ‘juice’ for the skin, that’s packed with powerful antioxidants and omegas. This incredible botanical extract promotes firmer, smoother and more radiant, even skin. It also contains Punicic Acid, an omega 5 fatty acid proven to aid in the regeneration of skin at the cellular level. If you suffer from acne and rosacea, it’s also extremely calming. 

Potassium sorbate


Potassium Sorbate is a mild natural preservative being used in cosmetic and skin care formulas as a harmful paraben alternative to prevent the growth of microorganisms and protect products from spoiling. Developed from Sorbic Acid, which is naturally found in the berries of the mountain ash tree, Potassium Sorbate is effective against fungi, mould and yeast.

 

Prickly pear seed oil


An incredible source of antioxidants and essential fatty acids. It has a special ability to protect skin against free radicals and is a powerful moisturiser, leaving the skin feeling velvety soft. Little wonder it is highly prized and one of the most expensive plant oils available.

Radish root ferment


Whether or not you like the pungent taste of the radish, these root veggies some amazing skin benefits. Their natural red colour indicates that they are packed with antioxidants, just like any dark-coloured fruit or vegetable. Additionally, they have unique toning and detoxifying properties. With Vitamins A, B, C, E, and K, along with many essential cell-building minerals, like zinc, iron, and calcium, is packed with skin-friendly properties. The vitamins act as antioxidants, fending off free radicals which will damage skin if they are not neutralized. They are also helpful in the creation of new cells and in reducing inflammation. Rapeseed oil


A fragrant free oil that is a great source of healthy fats such as omega-3, omega-6 fatty acids and also Alpha Linolenic Acid (ALA).  The body does not produce the fatty acids found in Rapeseed Oil naturally, however they offer amazing emollient and antioxidant properties for the skin.  The emollient property of Rapeseed Oil helps moisturize and prevent dry, itchy skin, which keeps the skin looking smooth and healthy. Rapeseed Oil also contains large amounts of vitamin E, which is considered an antioxidant that eliminates free radicals that harm the body and intensifies the appearance of ageing skin. Overall Rapeseed oil is considered to aid in regenerating, restructuring, replenishing and rejuvenating the skin.

 

Raspberry seed oil


Raspberries are full of sweet, skin-loving surprises. This potent antioxidant is exceptionally high in vitamin E and omega 3 and 6 essential fatty acids which help to protect, revitalise and condition the skin. Sensitive skins can also rejoice, as it provides a lipid barrier of protection and moisture. 

Red sea algae


Also known as Irish Moss. The healing and rejuvenating power of antioxidant-rich seaweed. This high-performing antioxidant contains essential vitamins (A, B, C, D and K) and optimises the skin’s defences, increasing its capacity to resist damage caused by environmental toxins. It neutralises free radicals; clarifies and soothes stressed skin; and locks in moisture to keep it hydrated, diminishing the look of fatigue.

 

Reishi mushroom extract


Abundant in polysaccharides, which is vital for skin repair and cell regeneration. Reishi Mushroom aids skins natural ability to retain water, providing superior hydration for plump, youthful looking skin. 

Rose essential oil


The calming, uplifting aroma enhances wellbeing. Rose oil helps rejuvenate skin cells helping to reduce the look of fine lines, whilst repairing damage from environmental stressors.

 

Rosehip oil


Fantastic for treating oily and sensitive skins, reducing fine and wrinkles, and healing scars and skin damage caused by UV and other radiation. Rosehip is amongst the best vegetable oil sources of omega 3 and is also a good source of omega 6, both essential fatty acids collectively known as vitamin F, involved in cellular membrane and tissue regeneration.

Rosemary Co2 extract


Incredible protection against oxidative damage, and a must-use for busy lifestyles. This powerful natural antioxidant provides protection against UV stress and glycation caused by too much sugar intake, and reduces the accumulation of skin damage overtime, for healthier looking skin.

 

Sclerotium gum


 A gel-like thickening and stabilizing agent used in cosmetics and beauty products. It is a polysaccharide produced through a fermentation process (basically fermented sugar) It has natural skin soothing and smoothing properties

Shea nut butter


Shea butter is a skin superfood that comes from the seeds of the fruit of the Shea (Karite) tree and that is naturally rich in vitamins A, E and F. It offers UV protection and provides the skin with essential fatty acids and the nutrients necessary for collagen production.

 

Shiitake mushroom extract


The kojic acid present in Shiitake Mushroom brightens the skin and reduces the appearance of imperfections and age spots. Packed with antioxidant properties, shiitake possesses the ability to fight the inflammations affecting the skin. According to one study, application of the shiitake mushroom extract on the skin has the potential to improve and enhance its visual appeal. The dense presence of kojic acid, the natural hydroquinone substitute, lightens the skin by fading away the age spots and scars. Thus, it delays ageing and helps in keeping your skin young and radiant. 

Sodium anisate


An antimicrobial agent that helps to preserve your beauty products and prevents germs and bacteria from building up.  What’s interesting about sodium anisate is that it’s derived from fennel. The name “anisate” looks a lot like “anis”, and anyone who’s tried fennel knows that it has a mild aniseed-like flavour.

 

Sodium benzoate


is a salt of Benzoic Acid, found naturally in cranberries, prunes, plums, cinnamon, ripe cloves, and apples and used as a preservative in our products. It is excellent at inhibiting the growth of fungus, yeast and bacteria skincare a s well as food.

Sodium hyaluronate


Secures moisture and creates fullness, plus it can adjust its moisture absorption. Sodium Hyaluronate plays a critical role in skin health with its unique ability to hold in moisture.

 

Sodium levulinate


Naturally occurring in corn. The gentle ingredient improves the natural acidic environment of the skin and also assists with hydration.

Squalane (from olives)
