Lisa Armitage’s AM/PM skincare routine

As the founder of her own skincare brand, Lisa knows a thing or two about daily self-care. From a good-fat-packed breakfast to an evening facial massage, here’s how she keeps glowing.

IN THE MORNING…

Time is precious.

And with two children, a dog and horses, I don’t have that much time for myself, so I keep it simple but effective. I’m 53, and as I’ve got older, I find that my skin needs more nourishment and less stress.

I splash my face with warm water.

I don’t cleanse in the morning, so while my skin is still damp and warm, I apply my Anti-Pollution Serum followed by my Antioxidant Facial Oil, just a couple of drops is all that is needed, a little goes a long way. I apply just one pump of my Illuminating Day Lotion, and if I am out and about all day, I will apply a mineral SPF. If I am rushing out the door to do horse stuff, I will simply apply a generous layer of my Multi Miracle Balm, this acts as a barrier from the cold and wind.

I take supplements, all natural.

I know people say you should get all your nutrients from your food, this was true 100 years ago when the soil was nutrient rich, but over farming has depleted these vital nutrients from the soil. I take vitamin D though the winter months but not in the summer; B vitamins; antioxidants and Omega 3. I drink chlorophyll with my filtered water throughout the day, which I have done for 15 years; it’s detoxifying, great for cleansing the liver which in turn is good for the skin! I drink at least four pints of water a day.

The day starts with warm water and a squeeze of fresh lemon.

My breakfast is always protein and fat based, eggs normally cooked in ghee. I will sometimes have overnight soaked oats but mainly protein. I am not a fan of carbohydrate breakfasts, but if I eat bread it will be sourdough, as my stomach can tolerate that. Only organic full fat milk, or I also love raw milk but it’s so difficult to source. I cook with ghee and coconut oil –fats are so good for us! If it’s the weekend, breakfast might be something like huevos rancheros.

IN THE EVENING…

I end the day with my Multi Miracle Balm.

I apply a generous layer to dry skin, including the eye area, as it effortlessly but effectively removes all eye make-up, even mascara. I remove it with a warm, damp muslin cloth using gentle circular motions. I don’t use any harsh exfoliating grains or AHAs as my skin will not tolerate them. However, my Multi Miracle Balm is formulated with natural fruit sugars from watermelon seed and pumpkin seed ferment, combined, these two superfood extracts naturally slough off dead skin cells without causing irritations.

A facial massage works wonders.

I apply my Omega Oil to warm damp skin. My skin tends to be on the dry side due to peri-menopause. So, without fail I will always spend a couple of minutes or so massaging this in; I call it my yoga workout for my face. I’m qualified in the Natural Lift Facial Massage, and massage is so important. I like to use my fingers, as I find I can really target areas and the warmth from my fingers helps the oil to glide effortlessly. Once or twice a week I will do a full 10 minutes’ massage, and I can honestly see a difference when I do this.

I seal in the goodness with a night cream.

To top it all off, I apply one pump of my Activating Night Cream. It is so nourishing yet lightweight, it takes no time to sink in and you can climb straight into bed and you won’t find it on your pillow in the morning. My skin in the morning always looks plump and nourished, even when I haven’t had a good night’s sleep.
